Rita van Oers, born on the 30th December 1959 in the Netherlands, started drawing when her fine motorics allowed her to. After high-school she attended the academy of arts in Kampen, the Netherlands, where she has developed her skills in painting, drawing and tapestries or embroideries. While being really gifted in drawing, she has put more attention to the embroideries, as this work represents her artistic identity and authenticity the best. Searching for interesting pieces of textile, on the streets, thrift-stores and on the beach, in combination with the hours of work spent by sewing a facial expression or layers of hair, is what she enjoys the most.
